What does this qualification cover?
The updated NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care is a substantial occupational qualification for people working or gaining experience in adult social care in England. It develops the knowledge, understanding and practical competence needed to provide person-centred, values-led care and support with greater autonomy.
You will study essential areas including effective communication, handling information, personal and professional development, wellbeing, person-centred practice, choice and independence, equality and human rights, health and safety, infection prevention, safeguarding, duty of care, mental capacity and restrictive practices.
Optional units allow the qualification to be shaped around your responsibilities and career goals. Depending on your role, these may cover specialist support, dementia or end-of-life care, clinical and healthcare tasks, digital skills, supervision or leadership.
Study format: Online and self-paced, supported by a dedicated tutor and assessor, with monthly check-ins to keep you progressing. Assessment is completed through a portfolio of evidence rather than formal examinations.
Workplace requirement: You must be working, volunteering or completing a practical placement in an appropriate adult care setting in England. Your assessor will need access to evidence from your real role, which may include direct observations, professional discussions, reflective accounts, witness testimonies and workplace documents.
Duration: 12 months
Entry requirements: You must be aged 16 or over and have a suitable adult care role or placement. There are no compulsory prior qualifications, although a related Level 2 qualification or previous care experience is helpful. A good standard of written English is required to complete the assessments.
