What is Safeguarding?
Safeguarding is the action taken to promote the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults, and to protect them from harm, abuse, and neglect. It means ensuring people live free from abuse, feel safe, and are supported to make their own choices wherever possible.
In education and community settings, safeguarding includes creating safe environments, training staff to recognise signs of harm, and responding appropriately to concerns.
Everyone has a role to play in keeping others safe. If you work with or support children or vulnerable adults, it's important to understand your responsibilities.

What is the Prevent Strategy?
The Prevent strategy is part of the UK government’s counter-terrorism approach. Its aim is to safeguard people from being drawn into extremist ideologies or terrorist activity.
In education, Prevent is about protecting learners from radicalisation by promoting safe, open discussions and helping individuals build resilience against harmful influences. It is not about spying or judging — it's about support and early intervention.
As part of your learning journey with Eagles Consultancy Ltd, you’ll be encouraged to think critically, respect others, and seek help if you’re worried about yourself or someone else.

What are British Values?
In the UK education system, British Values are a set of principles that help promote a fair, respectful, and inclusive society. They are actively taught in schools and training settings to support personal development and social responsibility.
The five core British Values are:
Democracy – having a say in decisions that affect you
Rule of Law – understanding and following the law
Individual Liberty – the freedom to make your own choices
Mutual Respect – treating others with kindness and understanding
Tolerance of Different Faiths and Beliefs – respecting people of all backgrounds and religions
These values help learners become respectful, informed citizens in modern Britain.

What is Radicalisation?
Radicalisation is the process by which a person comes to support extremist ideas or engage in terrorism. This can happen gradually and may involve someone being influenced, pressured, or groomed — often online or through others — to adopt harmful beliefs or behaviours.
Anyone can be vulnerable to radicalisation, regardless of age, background, religion, or education. In education settings, we work to protect learners by raising awareness, promoting respect, and offering support if someone is at risk.
Recognising the signs early can help safeguard individuals and prevent harm. If you ever feel unsure, concerned, or unsafe, please speak to a member of staff.
