NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching & Learning
Advance your career in education and develop specialist skills in classroom support, assessment, and meeting individual pupils’ needs.
What does this qualification cover?
This NCFE CACHE Level 3 qualification is designed to provide you with an in-depth understanding of working directly with children and young people in school or college environments. You will explore subject areas including child development, safeguarding and welfare, and supporting positive behaviour. The course also covers how to plan, deliver, and review learning activities alongside class teachers, as well as supporting bilingual learners and pupils with special educational needs (SEN).
Study format: Online and self-paced, supported by a dedicated personal tutor and monthly check-ins to keep you on track.
Work placement: Yes, a practical work placement is required. You must be working or volunteering in a suitable school or college setting, from Key Stage 1 and above, for the duration of the course so your practical skills can be observed and assessed. This may include primary, secondary, or special schools. We recommend completing a minimum of 200 placement hours.
Entry requirements: You must be aged 16 or over and secure a suitable school or college placement. No formal qualifications are required, but we normally expect your English and maths skills to be at Functional Skills Level 1 or above. You will also need sufficient written English to complete Level 3 assignments, explain your understanding and reflect on your practice.
These skills will help you communicate effectively with staff and pupils, understand instructions, and support classroom activities, including reading, writing and basic maths.
You do not need a Functional Skills certificate to enquire—we will discuss your current skills and any support you may need before confirming your place.
Duration: 12 months.
It’s ideal if you:
Want to develop your career as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or SEN support worker.
Are already working or volunteering in a school or college and want a regulated qualification to support your progression.
Want to develop the skills needed to assist teachers with learning activities, assessments, and individual pupil support.
What you’ll gain:
A nationally recognised Level 3 Diploma from NCFE CACHE, regulated by Ofqual.
A foundation for further study in education and related subjects.
Practical skills and confidence to support learning activities, positive behaviour and individual pupils’ needs.
A formal qualification to support applications for teaching assistant and learning support roles, including opportunities with greater responsibility.
