This qualification is designed to build the knowledge and skills needed when working with children and young people from birth to 19 years. It covers a diverse range of job roles and occupational areas and is spilt into two pathways:

  • Social Care
  • Learning and Development Support Services

Apprenticeship Level 3

  • 12-18 months duration (approx)
  • Successful completion will contribute towards university entrance requirements
  • Academic equivalent to Advanced A Levels

Component Parts

  • Level 3 Diploma for the Children & Young People’s Workforce (QCF)
  • Level 2 Award in Employment Responsibilities & Rights in Children & Young Peoples Settings (QCF)
  • Level 2 Functional Skills – English, Maths & ICT
  • Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS)

Funding Criteria

  • Work an average of 30 hours per week
  • Not in full time education
