Level 3 Diploma In Supporting Teaching & Learning
Advance your career in education and qualify for senior teaching assistant roles with specialist expertise in classroom support, assessment, and individual pupil needs.
What does this qualification cover?
This official NCFE CACHE Level 3 qualification is designed to provide you with an in-depth, professional understanding of working directly with children and young people in school or college environments. You will explore specialist subject areas including child development, safeguarding and welfare, and how to support positive behaviour. The course also covers how to plan, deliver, and review learning activities alongside class teachers, as well as providing dedicated support for bilingual learners and pupils with special educational needs (SEN).
Study format: Online and self-paced, supported by a dedicated personal tutor and monthly check-ins to keep you on track.
Work placement: Yes, a practical work placement is required. You must be working or volunteering in a school or college setting (Primary, Secondary, or SEN, from Key Stage 1 and above) for the duration of the course so your practical classroom skills can be observed and assessed. We recommend completing a minimum of 200 placement hours.
Duration: 12 months
Entry requirements: No rigid academic qualifications are required, but you must be at least 16 years old, have a suitable school placement secured, and have a good standard of written English to complete the Level 3 assignments.
It's ideal if you:
Want to qualify as a senior Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or Special Educational Needs (SEN) support worker
Are already working or volunteering in a school and want a regulated, professional qualification to step up to a higher-level role
Want to develop the specialist skills needed to assist teachers with lesson planning, assessments, and individual learning support
What you'll gain:
A fully accredited, nationally recognised Level 3 Diploma from NCFE CACHE (Ofqual regulated)
Valuable UCAS points to support future applications for higher education or foundation degrees
The expert practical skills and confidence needed to coordinate classroom learning and manage student behaviour
An outstanding credential that is highly sought after by headteachers and schools across the UK
Begin at your own pace — your tutor is with you every step of the way.
