Gain your professional licence to practise as a fully qualified Early Years Educator and step into a rewarding, high-impact career supporting children's early development.

What does this qualification cover?
This official NCFE CACHE Level 3 qualification provides the deep professional knowledge and practical expertise required to care for and educate children from birth to 5 years, while also building your understanding of children aged 5 to 7 years. You will cover critical subject areas, including holistic child development, safeguarding and welfare, supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), and promoting a healthy lifestyle. You will also learn how to plan, deliver, and assess an effective early years curriculum.

Study format: Online and self-paced, supported by a dedicated personal tutor and monthly check-ins to keep you on track.

Work placement: Yes, a practical work placement is required. To complete this qualification, you must be working or volunteering in a suitable early years setting (with children aged 0–5) to complete a mandatory minimum of 300 placement hours (350 hours recommended). This allows your practical skills to be assessed and observed in a real-world environment.

Duration: 18 months

Entry requirements: You must be at least 16 years old and secure a suitable placement with a qualified workplace mentor. A good standard of written English is necessary to complete your Level 3 assignments. To count in the staff-to-child ratios as a Level 3 Early Years Educator in a nursery, you must also hold a suitable Level 2 English qualification (such as GCSE English or equivalent).

It's ideal if you:

  • Want to become a fully qualified Early Years Educator, Nursery Deputy, or Preschool Leader

  • Are currently working or volunteering in an early years setting and want to secure your official licence to practise to count towards staff-to-child ratios

  • Want to develop an advanced, professional understanding of early years pedagogy, legislation, and child-led learning

What you'll gain:

  • A fully accredited, Ofqual-regulated Level 3 Diploma from NCFE CACHE (fully approved by the Department for Education)

  • An official licence to practise, qualifying you to work as a Level 3 practitioner in nurseries, preschools, and reception classes

  • 32 valuable UCAS points to support future applications for higher education or university degrees

  • The high-level practical skills, confidence, and leadership abilities needed to shape positive futures for young children
