What does this qualification cover?
This official NCFE CACHE Level 2 qualification is designed to build the essential knowledge and practical skills you need to support children from birth to 7 years of age, with a focus on the 0–5 age group. You will cover vital subjects, including safeguarding and welfare, promoting healthy lifestyles, supporting child development, and the importance of play. You will also learn how to assist with daily care routines, plan educational activities, and support children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
Study format: Online and self-paced, supported by a dedicated personal tutor and monthly check-ins to keep you on track.
Work placement: Yes, a practical work placement is required. You must be working or volunteering in an early years setting (such as a nursery, preschool, or reception class) for a recommended minimum of 250 hours. This allows you to build your portfolio and be observed in the workplace by an assessor.
Duration: 12 months
Entry requirements: No formal qualifications are required to start, but you must be at least 16 years old, secure a suitable early years placement, and have a good standard of written English. You will also need a clean DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check for your placement.
