Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Safeguarding & Prevent
Build a vital, up-to-date knowledge base on protecting vulnerable individuals from harm, abuse, and the risks of radicalisation.
What does this qualification cover?
This official NCFE CACHE Level 2 qualification focuses on the critical legal responsibilities and best practices surrounding modern safeguarding. The course is broken down into three mandatory pillars: understanding the statutory Prevent Duty (which helps protect individuals from radicalisation and extremist views), the core principles of protecting children and vulnerable adults from neglect and abuse, and navigating the unique safety challenges of online communication and social media.
Study format: Online and self-paced, supported by a dedicated personal tutor and monthly check-ins to keep you on track.
Work placement: No work placement or hands-on workplace experience is required to complete this qualification. It is an entirely knowledge-based course assessed through a digital portfolio of evidence, allowing you to study completely from home.
Duration: 4 months
Entry requirements: No formal qualifications are required, but you must be at least 18 years old and possess a good standard of written English to complete the portfolio assignments.
It's ideal if you:
Work in or want to enter the education, healthcare, early years, or social care sectors where a statutory duty of care applies
Want to understand your legal responsibilities regarding the UK government's counter-terrorism and Prevent strategies
Wish to gain the confidence needed to spot the early warning signs of abuse or radicalisation and learn how to report concerns safely and correctly
What you'll gain:
A nationally recognised, Ofqual-regulated Level 2 Certificate from NCFE CACHE
Essential compliance knowledge that meets standard UK workplace audit and continuing professional development (CPD) requirements
An outstanding addition to your CV that signals to prospective employers in public-facing sectors that you are fully trained in modern safeguarding standards
A clear progression pathway onto higher-level training, such as Designated Safeguarding Lead roles or Level 3 qualifications in supporting teaching or youth work
Begin at your own pace — your tutor is with you every step of the way.
